"Dasvi (दसवी)"
Watched Hindi movie "Dasvi (दसवी)".
This film is directed by Tushar Jalota. Written by Ritesh Shah & others. Produced by Dinesh Vijan. Music by Sachin - Jigar. Cinematography Kabir Tejpal. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Yami Gautami, Mubashir Bashir, Danish Husain, Rachit Jadoun, Arun Kushwah, Nimrat Kaur. The film runs for about 2 hour 6 minutes and was released on 7th April 2022. I watched it on Netflix on 8th Apr 2022 with Aditi.
Abhishek is Chief Minister of Harit Pradesh. He is sent to jail, pending investigation for corruption. He appoints his demure wife as CM. On one side he encounters a strict jailer, Yami. On the other side his wife quickly learns tricks of the trade and establishes herself in politics. Out of power and frustrated; Abhishek decides to fulfill his mother’s dream to escape from all this. The dream to pass 10th standard, Dasvi.
Abhishek plays the Politico who comes to understands the importance of education. He delivers a good performance. He is the omnipotent presence on the screen and is especially good in the first half. Yami plays the honest and strict jailer who hates what Abhishek stands for but appreciates who he is. She is beautiful, looks beautiful. Nimrat plays Abhishek’s obedient and shy wife who is totally seduced by power. Other actors play the supporting roles well.
Director has chosen a story that has ingredients like drama and humor, spices it up with politics and garnishes it with a social message. Director has done a good job. Audience remains with the story. The flow is good, except a couple of occasions. However, he can’t extricate himself from the Bollywood trap. So, CM of Harit Pradesh dances in jail. A politician makes a sacrifice. Letters dance with Tare zameen par effect etc.
There is one good song. You remember the song sometime after the movie.
Positives: Abhishek.
Negatives: A little too light, perhaps.
Recommend watching.
