Watched Hindi movie "Sharmaji namkeen". 

This film is directed by Hitesh Bhatia. Written by Hitesh Bhatia, Supratik Sen. Produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and others. Music by Sneha Khanwalkar . Cinematography Piyush Puty. The film stars Rishi Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Isha Talwar, Gufi Paintal. The film runs for about 2 hour and was released in 2022. I watched it on Amazon Prime on 31st March 2022.

Rishi Kapoor is given VRS by company that he gave his life to. He suddenly finds himself idle, nothing to do. Time doesn’t pass. He indulges in his favorite hobby: cooking. Where will his cooking take him?

It’s a light movie. Easy going. Not too many complications. Rishi Kapoor lights the screen. Paresh plays a little stiff Rishi. Suhail plays Rishi’s son who loves him but is also exasperated by his antics. Satish Kaushik plays Rishi’s friend Chaddha. Finally there are lovely middle aged ladies led by Juhi Chawla. 

Although it’s a light movie, it has a very weak story. That’s the biggest drawback of this movie. At the end of movie you can narrate the gist of story in three sentences. Rishi and Paresh carry the movie on their shoulder very well and it doesn’t become boring. 

Rishi Kapoor started shooting for this film but couldn’t complete it. Paresh Rawal completed the film. So you see Rishi in few scenes and Paresh in others. It’s a little disconcerting but you get used to it. I remember watching a Marathi movie called ‘Matichya chuli (मातीच्या चुली)’ started by Sudhir Joshi and completed by Anand Abhyankar.
